I’m worried about the fall. I’m trying to minor in art but I was told its really hard to get into art classes. I’m trying. I can’t declare a minor and make getting into the classes easier until I get into that first class. FML

Don’t tell them your intending to minor–say you are seriously considering the major–even if you arn’t. I did that as a fresh and sophomore and got into 5 art classes. Plus, go talk to the professors, if you really want it and tell them why, usually they will make room for you.

Actually, you can declare your minor before you take a class. It’ll be easier to get in then and if it doesn’t work out, just drop the minor.

Thats good to know. I thought you had to take a class since there is a section (at least on the major form) that asks about classes you have taken

It’s easier to get into an art class if you are majoring or minoring in art. Obviously, majors get the preference. Go to the first class, talk to the instructor and see what happened.

I’m an art major. It took me two semesters to get into art classes. Good Luck.

also, it sometimes helps to bring a portfolio (nothing too intense, just a couple of pieces) to show the professor on the first day.
