I friended my roommates a couple days after receiving my housing assignment, pumped to finally see what interesting individuals I would be residing with. They hardly care to converse with me. Looking forward to an awkward first year. FML

Just give it time. Some people don’t like conversing with new people over facebook and some are just bad with that type of communication altogether.

I talked forever with my roommates before moving in with them, turned out there was not much more we could talk about once we were together…. so honestly, don’t worry!! you’ll try your best, and if it doesn’t work out you can always move out!

It won’t be awkward unless you make it awkward. If your roommate has no interest in you, go out and meet people.

Way to have a positive attitude about school already.

My freshman year, I contacted both my roomies and they seemed like a great fit. That turned out to be complete lies, and we did not get along at all. So take the pre-college chatting with a few grains of salt. And if you don’t get along, don’t worry! You’ll make friends that don’t live with you and thing’s’ll work out.

When I met a couple of my roommates on facebook we hardly talked at all apart from saying what we were taking to college, then when we got there we started getting to know each other. Don’t worry about it too much since most people are probably just trying to spend time with their old friends before everyone goes off to college. If your roommates really do suck then you’ll find plenty of friendly people at Wheaton to hang out with anyway

Why do people dislike this?

don’t worry, there’s a lot of room swapping the first few weeks of school. so if it turns out that your roommates are total d-bags you can move in with some cool people. although it’s not a bad idea to “essentially live” (as in constantly hanging out…day and night, as you will with a handful of people in college) with other people and just use the room as a place to come back to after partying.

this is false. There is a housing freeze for the first few weeks of school.

@bitch…..I’ll be fine—as long as my roommate isn’t you.
